Plug and Play is proud to announce our first investment in a Cambodian startup, marking a significant milestone for the country’s growing digital economy. The investment was awarded to Bamnang Holdings Pte. Ltd., an all-in-one student superapp that powers academic growth through safe and affordable housing, mentorship, and personal student management system (PSMS), driving recurring revenue through a scalable platform for the next generation of learners and leaders.
Launched in 2025 in partnership with the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications (MPTC) and AUPP Technology Center (ATC), Plug and Play Cambodia is one of the most active global venture capital firms operating in the country, reflecting the increasing maturity and potential of the country’s innovation ecosystem.
The inaugural cohort of our Innovate Cambodia Accelerator Program welcomed 10 startups across SaaS, AI, Logistics, Education, Finance, Agriculture, Property, and Pharmacy. Among them was Bamnang, which stood out as one of the most active and high-performing companies in the program. The team was recognized for its scalable business model and strong potential to address key social infrastructure challenges faced by Cambodia’s youth.
“At Plug and Play, we look for startups building solutions with both local impact and regional potential. Bamnang demonstrated that through its platform and the team’s vision to empower students, making this investment a natural next step. It reflects the quality of founders emerging from Cambodia’s innovation ecosystem and the impact we hope to continue building through the program,” said Jupe Tan, Managing Partner of Plug and Play APAC.
This investment is a pivotal moment for Bamnang as it transitions from a local solution to a regional contender. Through Plug and Play’s Silicon Valley connections and Asia-Pacific headquarters in Singapore, the company will benefit from cross-border market access, regulatory insights, as well as regional and global connections. This will allow Bamnang to benchmark its student housing and mentorship models against international standards and refine its services for a broader audience. As the first investment of its kind in the country, it demonstrates to the global community that Cambodian-born startups can successfully navigate the rigorous due diligence of a top-tier global firm.
“As one of the world’s most active and trusted international innovation platforms, Bamnang being the first Cambodian startup backed by Plug and Play is not only a major milestone for us, but also demonstrates what Cambodian startups can achieve on the global stage,” said Rothsethamony Seng, CEO and Co-founder of Bamnang. “The momentum and strategic support we are receiving now gives us the confidence to think even bigger, and we look forward to welcoming more long-term partners who want to help us scale safe and affordable student housing, mentorship, and personalized student management system as the AI agentic recommendation system for students to connect with the right majors, universities, scholarships, and career pathways across Asia Pacific in our future rounds.”
Apart from financial backing, Bamnang is integrated into Plug and Play’s global ecosystem, which has invested in unicorns like Dropbox, Guardant Health, Honey, Lending Club, N26, PayPal, and Rappi. Through this network, Bamnang will gain access to mentorship, strategic partnerships, and investor connections that can further accelerate its growth.
Moving forward, Bamnang is looking to strengthen its platform by integrating more advanced technological capabilities, including AI-driven academic tracking and intelligent mentorship matching. These features are designed to bridge the urban-rural divide by improving accessibility to housing, educational resources, and career networks for students in Phnom Penh and beyond.
As Plug and Play continues to expand its presence in the country, this investment in Bamnang reflects a broader commitment to empowering Cambodia’s innovation-driven economy and nurturing the future generation of digitally savvy leaders.
