THREE MEDIA, a startup from the Global Innovation Alliance (GIA) Jakarta program, has partnered with Transvision to develop OTT satellite infrastructure in Indonesia, marking a major milestone in the company’s expansion into the Indonesian market.
About Transvision
Transvision is a joint venture between CT Corp, one of Indonesia’s largest conglomerates, and Telkom Indonesia, the country’s largest telecommunications infrastructure provider.
As one of Indonesia’s leading players in both Free-to-Air and Pay-TV, Transvision is a major force in the country’s media and broadcasting industry, operating channels such as CNN Indonesia and CNBC Indonesia.
About THREE MEDIA
THREE MEDIA provides an end-to-end hybrid satellite and terrestrial content delivery platform that helps media providers and operators reduce the cost of OTT content distribution and extend market reach.
Its solution leverages satellite based file broadcasting and low cost satellite data receiver technology to deliver content efficiently across a large geographical area to screens of all sizes, helping operators overcome key industry challenges such as:
High CDN costs on traditional OTT platforms
Rising network costs for maintaining streaming quality
Limited OTT adoption despite market demand
By reducing operating costs and increasing deployment scale, THREE MEDIA enables partners to achieve faster ROI while creating new revenue opportunities through FAST advertising from existing subscribers and new viewers.
Why Indonesia
Indonesia was a priority market for THREE MEDIA due to its large digital population, strong internet adoption, and strategic proximity to Singapore.
As one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing digital economies, Indonesia presents significant opportunities for companies operating in media and digital infrastructure.
How the Partnership Started
Through the GIA Jakarta program, Plug and Play facilitated introductions between THREE MEDIA and key players within Indonesia’s ecosystem.
During the program, THREE MEDIA was introduced to Transvision, where both parties identified a shared interest in exploring collaboration opportunities within Indonesia’s OTT and digital content distribution space.
This initial discussion eventually led to deeper conversations around infrastructure development and long-term partnership opportunities.
The Partnership
THREE MEDIA and Transvision have since entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly develop an OTT satellite solution leveraging Transvision’s infrastructure.
The partnership aims to build scalable infrastructure capable of distributing media content efficiently across Indonesia’s growing digital ecosystem.
This solution addresses a growing market need, as many internet service providers (ISPs) in Indonesia are seeking ways to reduce bandwidth costs while maintaining service quality.
If successfully implemented, the infrastructure could enable high-bandwidth media delivery even in lower-bandwidth environments.
With over 1,000 registered ISPs in Indonesia, the market opportunity remains substantial.
The partnership is currently being rolled out in phases, beginning with pilot implementation before moving toward broader deployment.
Key Outcome
For THREE MEDIA, this partnership represents an important milestone in entering the Indonesian market.
Beyond gaining access to Transvision’s infrastructure and market network, the collaboration validates THREE MEDIA’s technology and strengthens its credibility when pursuing future partnerships in other markets.
For Transvision, the partnership creates an opportunity to expand into content distribution infrastructure, strengthening its position in Indonesia’s evolving OTT ecosystem.
Key Learnings
THREE MEDIA shared several learnings from its Jakarta expansion journey:
Understand your partners before pitching
Knowing your partner’s business needs is critical to positioning your solution effectively.
Leverage your network fully
Opportunities may not always come directly — many valuable introductions happen through broader ecosystem connections.
Maintain strong relationships
Consistently nurturing relationships can create future opportunities when least expected.
